Nairn Lochloy Caravan Park after the big freeze

Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park has been frozen since just before Christmas so the race is on to get the water back on and open the site for holidaymakers on March 22nd.

The site looks great at the moment with fresh paint everywhere and several new caravans around the site. The staff were being trained on the new Costa Coffee that has been introduced this year. Many of the staff are the same as last year. There were several new caravan models for sale in the show area. And to cap it all the beach looked fantastic. The tide was out and there were lots of birds down by the shoreline.

Overhead, there were hundreds of Pink Footed Geese flying around from the fields to the shore. They were making their usual gentle call - obviously getting excited about their return north next month.

Now that Christmas and the New Year have passed and the big freeze appears to be behind us, it is time to turn your attention to the more enjoyable things in life - holidays for this year!! Spending a short break or a full week/fortnight on a holiday park in Scotland is a great way of getting closer to nature with all the creature comforts of your home.

Caravans 109 and 196 (196 is new for this year) are owner caravans at Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park avaible for hire to holidaymakers. Both of them are within 50 yards of the beach so you can enjoy fantastic walks or beach days just ourside your front door. Nairn's East Beach is truly fantastic and is great for swimming on those balmy days in Summer (or at other times for the brave ones!!!)

Caravan 109 is available for booking, and new for 2010, we are also letting out caravan 196. Like caravan 109, it is a 2008 ABI Elan that sleeps up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms. There is a put you up bed in the lounge for an additional 2 people.

Another season over at Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park

So that is it. Another season is over and the site closed down for the Winter on Monday 9th November. For those taking a break in the first week of November, the weather was kind with some beautiful clear and sunny days. Great for walking on the beach or touring the local area - and all from the heated comfort of Caravan 109.

The site opens to holidaymakers from the 22nd March 2010 and closes on the 5th November. Caravan 109 will be available once again for the season and next year we are adding Caravan 196 to our portfolio. We will keep you posted as to when the two caravans are available for booking. Hopefully it should be early January, but it could be before.

Golf around Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park

Friends have been up in Nairn over the last week and we have taken advantage of the fine (if windy) weather to get out and play some golf.

First up was Nairn Dunbar on Tuesday evening. The wind was blowing (so strong you could not stand still in one spot!!) but we were game for it. The course is literally a 5 minute drive from Caravan 109 at Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park. They offer a twilight rate after 5.00pm so we managed to play 14 holes for £20. Not bad on a quality course like this.

On the Wednesday we decided on Lossiemouth New Course. Not so new really as it was built in 1979! The sun was shining but the wind was still blowing. The front nine was playing into the wind so the scores were not great. However the course was in fantastic condition and looked so picturesque right next to the sea. Lossiemouth is about half an hour from Caravan 109.

The final day of golf was played at a course that we had not visited before - Hopeman Golf Club which is about 20 minutes from Caravan 109 on the way to Lossiemouth. It is a beautiful little course with a spectacular back nine. The signiature hole on the 12th (Prieshach) is a par 3 with a 150 foot drop from tee to green with the Moray Firth looming on the right!! It is great links golf and not a particularly long course. This year is their centenary year!

Caravan holidays in Scotland

If you are looking for a caravan holiday in Scotland, there is still time to book one in 2009. Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park doesn't close until the 6th November so you can still book Caravan 109 this season.

The caravan is centrally heated and double glazed so you can be nice and warm inside whatever the weather outside. The entertainment in the club also continues to the end of the season so you have ready made fun for the evenings at no extra cost.

Caravan 196 available in 2010

Caravan 109 has been available throughout 2009 and thank you to everyone who has come to Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park and stayed here. The weather as always has been pretty good with a fantastic hot spell in June.

From the end of March 2010, Caravan 196, on the same holiday park in Nairn, will be available. It can be booked in exactly the same way as Caravan 109. It is exactly the same as Caravan 109 (ABI Elan), although it does have more extensive decking outside.

It is situated at the far end of the holiday park near the East Beach car park and is right next to the sand dunes. There is access to the beach right next to the caravan.

It will be available for booking from January 2010.

My caravan holiday in Scotland in poetry

Our friend went home yesterday but left us a poem about his weeks' holiday with us. Here it is:

As I arrived on the Monday night

The sky was clear and the lights were bright

I had left my car and gone by train

Hoping my journey would not be in vain

The first few days were filled with fun

The sky still clear with nothing but sun

We walked along the sandy beach

With a feeling that nothing was out of reach

We wined and dined at our leisure

The Classroom, Dores Inn and Basil, all a pleasure

The food was varied and very fine

We will all return another time

The boats in the harbour do move and sway

Whilst Swans have nested in the bay

They sit on the nest so very proud

'Til nine cygnets arrive all fluffy and loud

Golf was played on courses nearby

With scores, some low, others too high

And afterwards as we sat in the bar

With no concerns except for par

As the week draws to a close

There is some sadness, as everyone knows

The time has come to catch the train

But truly. we will all return again.

Entertainment at Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park

Our friends from Fort William came up on Sunday to experience the delights of Lochloy Holiday Park with us. He has a company called SeaXplorer which operate fast boat trips on Loch Linnhe which is the sea loch that Fort William sits on. This is just under a 2 hour drive from Caravan 109 at Nairn. The boat seats up to twelve people and departs from the Tourist Information Office in Ballachulish. They operate 1 or 2 hour trips and the price includes all the warm and waterproof clothing that you will require along with life jackets. On the trips they regularly sea White Tailed Sea Eagles which are even larger than Golden Eagles. In addition they see Seals, Porpoises, Otters and a wide variety of birds. In the evening we had dinner in the caravan and then went down to Drifters which is the entertainment bar at the Holiday Park. There was a good crowd in the Complex and they were enjoying the in house Allstars with their singing and dancing acts. The kids were all dancing and several sheepish parents were joining in. For those who just want a drink, there are plenty of tables around the bar and away from the action (where you won't get coerced to join in!!!). Welcome to the 109 Blog

Caravan 109 is a luxury static caravan measuring 38' x 12' which is located on the beautiful site at Lochloy on the outskirts of Nairn. Situated only 50 yards from the stunning beaches running from Nairn to Findhorn, this is the ideal location for a caravan holiday in Scotland.

The caravan is double glazed and has central heating so is a great place for holidays from March to the end of October. It sleeps 4 people in 2 spacious bedrooms (for caravans!) and there is the option of a put you up bed in the lounge. This caravan is a non smoking one and sadly pets are not accepted.

The site is run by Parkdean Holidays. If you wish to book Caravan 109 specifically you can only do this by calling Lochloy Holiday Park on 01667 453764 and requesting it. You cannot do this online at the Parkedean website. For pricing purposes the caravan is classed as a Harris Caravan.
